*Gold holds the distinction of being the very first Curly to have
caught my eye. Although it was several years before she
stood in my stable, my enchantment with her started shortly after
I became acquainted with Curlies.
*Gold's bloodlines are an eclectic blend of many of the modern
Curly lines; Damele, Foxtrotter, & BLM. Add a dash of
Spanish Mustang and a hint of Appaloosa and you have a horse that
is smart, tough and honest to the core. Unlike many Curlies
she will not be caught dead in anyone's pocket or lap, but it's
trait I've learned to appreciate and respect. Her naturally
professional demeanor, her ability to quickly size up any
situation and her discriminating attitude towards people doesn't
make her the easiest horse to get along with , but these are all
traits which have kept me out of harm's way on numerous occasions.
Shortly after she arrived I set about training her to
saddle. This was accomplished in fairly short order and
*Gold went on to become my steadiest and most trustworthy trail
partner. We've logged many miles together and, to this day,
she's the horse I get back on if my confidence has been
shaken. I can take her out of the pasture after not having
done anything with her in months and it's always like we've not
had any time off. I can forget doing repetitive arena
exercises with her though, she doesn't have the time or patience
for that kind of foolishness. "Get on and let's hit the
trail" or "Get lost" are my options according to
her.
In her spare time *Gold has produced a total of 8 foals.
She produced 3 colts for her former owners, the Howards of Deserter
Creek Curlies of Kentucky. One colt, *DCC Sante Fe, is
now a breeding stallion for Whirlwind
Curlies in Lunenburg, Ontario. She has also
produced 4 marvelous fillies and one colt for us. *HCH Happy Landings is
now under saddle and competing (and winning!) in open shows in
Virginia. *HCH American Woman has been Exported to France
and has been started under saddle and has attended two prominent
horse fairs. In addition *Amy is now expecting her first
foal by *BCF Spartacular Splashes!!
*Gold's last two last fillies reside with us with at least one of them
being retained for the breeding herd. *HCH Kiss and Tell
and *HCH Cosmo Girl are gorgeous buckskins who both remind us of
their dam in build and in character. *Gold gave us yet
another awesome foal in 2008. This time a stunning palomino
curly colt named *HCH Maximum Gold! We
are so impressed with this colt that if not sold, he will become
our herd sire.
